Berkeley High School is merely a block or two west of UC Berkeley, but even the most casual of observers will notice how much better the high school looks.

Yet even the suave looking fortress that is the only public high school in Berkeley is subject to the strange, strange things that happen in the town.

During a lunch break last week, a homeless man chased a male student down Shattuck, wielding a knife. The chase ended in the school courtyard, where security guards surrounded the aggressor.

Police have not revealed the identity of the homeless attacker, though they report that while he was unable to actually stab the student, he did give him an asthma attack. The motive for the attack is unknown.
