This past week, hot Georgetown University grad Mike Birbiglia performed his standup comedy routine at Tennessee State University. Though he has already performed on the David Letterman Show, the Conan O’Brien Show, and Comedy Central Presents, Birbiglia says that he truly enjoys performing on college campus tours, telling Sidelines Online:
"The thing that's fun about college is that people have seen me on Comedy Central, and a lot of people who watch are high school and college students, and they know some of the jokes and some of the stuff," Birbiglia said. "It's like we are on the same page."
Birbiglia has been telling jokes to college students since he himself was a student at Georgetown.
According to his website:
At Georgetown I won the “Funniest Person on Campus" contest and the chance to perform at the D.C. Improv. They were so impressed they hired me to bus tables.
From there I took my jokes to New York City, where I was fired as a temp at Pfizer for repeatedly falling asleep at my desk . I proceeded to drive my mom’s old station wagon to comedy clubs all over America until my mechanic would no longer take my calls.
Since that time I’ve had two Comedy Central Presents half-hour specials and appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Late Show with David Letterman. I’ve performed at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, (my brother Joe joined me) The Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, and the Kilkenny Arts Festival.
I currently reside in New York City and perform all over the country. And one day I hope to own a pizza restaurant where 29-year-olds can hang out.
We at OTR would hang out in Birbiglia’s pizza restaurant anytime.
