This weekend, Berkeley hosted the 22nd Annual Berkeley Kite Festival. But don’t expect that this was any old pedestrian kite festival. This is Berkeley, after all. WE have lots of hippies.

Besides the regular activities like kite making and kite flying, there was also:
1) Kite Battling, which is all fun and games until a box kite starts crying.
2) A synchronized kite flying demo performed to “Stairway to Heaven”. Yawn. Duh.
3) Lots of weed (though not officially endorsed by the event itself, and is what prompted the title.  Forgive me).
4) And the pièce de résistance: a one-man kite team who flew three kites--one on his hips and one in each hand--who, because deaf, asked that the audience show appreciation by waving their hands.

Only in Berkeley, bros. Only in Berkeley.
