It's Not Official Until It's On Facebook

Our lives as we know it revolve completely around the social networking of cyberspace. If our relationships aren't Facebook serious, we should be on the lookout for cheating confessions or an oncoming breakup. A party isn't happening until Facebook invitations are sent out and everyone has RSVP'ed. Nothing is set in stone until it has been plastered all over Facebook walls, messages and events. This is probably why this drastic change went unnoticed for so long.

Back in June, it became official that NYU and Brooklyn's Polytech would be merging... but nobody cared. When a Polytech student told me months ago that she would soon be one of us, I thought she was transferring. This merger finally became reality when I noticed a few days ago that her Facebook network had changed from Polytech to NYU Polytech

I  searched the internet frantically and stumbled upon this article from the Washington Square News:

"The New York State Education Department's Board of Regents gave the NYU Polytechnic merger its approval on June 24 at the board's meeting - the final approval the deal needed to go forth. NYU will now effectively own Polytechnic University, a Brooklyn engineering school, which will be renamed the Polytechnic Institute of New York University."

It was then I realized that Facebook did not fail me, NYU has become infinitely greater – we now have an engineering school. This change was made official close to two months ago and I was going through life completely oblivious until Facebook lit the way.

So thank you Facebook for providing me with the necessary information I need to get through my college years.
