Marine Recruiting Center Protest Doesn't Cost the City Millions
The U.S. Senate voted 41-57  to deny an amendment today proposed by South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint to transfer over $2 million in federal funding from Berkeley school lunch programs, police equipment, and ferry service to the Marine Corps. Predictably, DeMint was disappointed that the Senate was a bunch of treasonous, bin Laden-coddling pussies (paraphrasing), and Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates was glad that the Senate saw past DeMint's grandstanding, flag-wearing, war-mongering joke of a retaliation (also paraphrasing).

Yay for school lunches?
