Whitman students have it all. They're lucky enough to have nice rooms without Butler's prison brick, the best eats on campus, and the sheltering bosom of the residential college system. The only problem? The noise.

Whitman students are lucky enough to be equipped with air conditioners in their rooms. Sounds great, right? Too bad the machines are louder than Jason's chainsaw, and there's no off button. Some genius decided to let the machines turn on whenever they want, and there's basically no turning them off.

The university investigated the problem, but as one student attested, "The guy came into the room, looked up at the vent, said 'no problem here', and left."
