Ohio Gives Arizona Football Coaches and Baby Boys Footballs

Arizona may not like to admit it, but it owes a debt to Ohio— for its football coaches. Five of the last six head coaches for the University of Arizona football team are from Ohio, including the current coach Mike Stoops. Four members of his staff were also raised in Ohio, which apparently has laser vision when it comes to sports.

According to the Toledo Blade:

"Ohio football is something that's really important," [Tom] Amstutz said. "Young men grow up with it in high school, and it's something you're sort of expected to do is play high school football. It's a really big part of all the little towns in Ohio, it's a strong part of the culture that we have in Ohio."

… "They used to give baby boys born in Ohio a little football - or at least they did years ago," Kish told the Arizona Daily Star. "That's how you grow up there."

So if they give baby boys footballs in Ohio, what do they give baby girls? Pom-poms? Talk about nature vs. nurture…
