UC Berkeley students were recently startled to find a huge Seinfeld bus on their campus. Evidently the bus was meant to promote the show, which is now in syndication. On the bus, UC Berkeley students could look at the Seinfeld MySpace and Facebook pages, while sitting amongst props and eating candy.
The Daily Californian reported:
A bus filled with everything about the show about nothing came to UC Berkeley Tuesday.
The 60-foot-long articulated bus was on campus as part of a nationwide advertising effort to get college students interested in "Seinfeld," one of the most popular television sitcoms in the last 20 years.
Fans found laptops linked to the show's MySpace and Facebook pages, props from the show and free candy.
"The idea was to bring 'Seinfeld' to college students in a way that they can understand," said Erika Williams, a managing partner at Yardstick Partners, which helped design the bus.
While the goals of the tour include introducing the show to a younger generation, most of the people in attendance said they were already familiar with it.
If this bus sounds unnecessary, you’re right. Pretty much everyone in America knows Seinfeld, and the free candy was a bit weird since when we normally hear about luring kids into busses with candy, it’s a case of kidnapping or pedophilia. Then again, it’s just the quirky sort of thing to expect from the people that brought America a show tackling issues like the mean Soup Man and man hands.
