Not quite the same type of protest...
Heads up to all you UC students still in school (suckers). In case you hadn't seen the flyers, your school's health care, dining, custodial, landscape and transportation workers had been planning to go on strike next week, beginning Wednesday, to bring attention to their low wages. The strike was planned for two days, hoping to force their employers into renegotiation.
Students were advised not to use campus services in support of the striking workers, who reportedly earn 25% less than community college workers in the same positions.
However, reports have just come out claiming the strike has been called off for the time being. Union members and employers will return to negotiations.
This spares students the terrible wrath of having to make their own food, clean their own bathrooms, and wiping their own butts.
