Weekend Review: Phallus in Chains

Weekend Review: Phallus in Chains
That's right, ladies and gentlemen; Phallus in Chains has made its triumphant return (as predicted by Ms.RedCup) to Berkeley--and it was just that: Triumphant. Despite rumors that the band was not up to par with last year's group, Phallus managed to rock the pants off a sizable number of party-goers at Davis co-op on Saturday.

Playing old stand-bys such as Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life" and Chumbawumba's "I Get Knocked Down," along with a healthy portion of Weezer, Hanson, and all the 90's faves, Phallus inserted a huge, steaming sausage of unadulterated pleasure into St. Patrick's Day weekend. (Yeah, I'm really bad at penis jokes. Sue me.) So, while the party was BYOB (for the love of St. Patrick, show us some love, Davis!) and $3 for non-co-opers, you really can't beat screaming every word of "You Oughta Know" at the top of your lungs and reminiscing about the good times you had when you were young.

The dawn of realization at the beginning of each song. The flood of memories at each chorus. The startling memory of lyrics not heard in a decade. That's Phallus, and that's good, clean fun.

Most--if not all--coop parties are BYOB now. It's USCA party policy, and if it's an open party that is serving alcohol AND charging, the house can get in super big trouble. FYI.
