Football and Math: Two areas where BU clearly excels

Football and Math: Two areas where BU clearly excels
Now that Silber's facist guest policy has been revoked to great success, it's time to fix another one of his blunders: cutting the BU Football program.

According to the FreeP, it would cost about $50 million to create a Division I A football program today. It would then cost at least $3 million a year to operate. When the program was cut in 1997, it was bringing in $100,000 annually.

Let me do the math here:

Divide the cost by the current number of students:

$50,000,000 / 15,000

add the operating cost for four years of education:

$3,000,000 * 4 / 15,000

subtract annual profit:

$100,000 * 4 / 15,000

The total cost per person of creating a football program:

$3,506.67

So here's my question: Are you f*ing kidding me? Is it really worth that much to add another losing sports team to our repertoire?
