This year, Rutgers University is launching the Print Green initiative in effort to conserve. But from the looks of the policy statement, it has more to do with conserving monetary resources for the school than conserving trees, or the student body's academic budget. The amount of money spent on books can already be back breaking enough for some students, and now, computer labs are limiting the number of pages allowed to be printed to 750 black-and-white pages per semester. 

750 pages sounds like a lot, and it probably is more than enough for the majority of the student body. But many students are made highly uncomfortable by the method the computer lab keeps track of student expenditures. As you print, you will see your $30.00 budget drain away in $0.04 increments. Life as college students is stressful enough without the additional anxiety caused by an inane countdown to when printing will start costing money.
