The Winners and Losers of Mock Rock

The Winners and Losers of Mock Rock
As soon as this routine goes on YouTube, it's getting posted. If you can find it, let me know.

I'd never been to Mock Rock before, hell I'd never even been to Hill Auditorium before, but I figured I'm a senior and I should do stuff like this before I graduate. Anyways, for those of you who don't know, Mock Rock is a show where Michigan athletes perform song and dance numbers to raise money for the children's hosptial. Aww. But yeah it's fun. Here's the best and worst of last night, according to me:

Best in Show:
As seen above, the Men's Track and Field team's interpretation of "Space Jam" was probably the greatest thing I've seen in college. Most of the teams had maybe one person that could dance, but Track and Field had at least a dozen. Seriously, someone find me this video on the internet.

Most Overused Theme:
This is a tie between "Dirty Dancing," the "Soulja Boy" dance, and "Stop the Yard" which surprisingly both Women's Soccer and Women's Water Polo found it necessary to do, and I nearly almost fell asleep during both.

Most Awkward: Women's Rowing rendition of "Spice Up Your Life" made the audience visibly uncomfortable. The entire team was dressed up as Spice Girls, but literally there was one girl who appeared to have been born with any sort of coordination. They put her in the middle and we watched the rest of the team awkwardly flail around her.

Most Overdone: The Marching Band did a huge production of "High School Musical," but it's not that impressive since the band eats choreography for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Still quite entertaining, but they could have made it much funnier. But oh wait it's the band.

Most Homoerotic: A tie between nearly all the men's teams that went. It seems a general rule that you have to wear exceptionally tight biker shorts and/or cross dress to produce an effective male act. Most notable was Men's Swimming who stripped down to speedos and grabbed each other's asses. Somewhat disturbing, but mostly hilarious.

If you missed it, you should go next year. Alright, next up, my first trip to Variety. I feel I'm obligated.

Update:
Oh yeah, happy Valentine's Day!
