Although we have a victorious win with our new president, it is also a bitter win. If you have not heard, Proposition 8 was passed, and that means gay individuals living in California will not be allowed to marry.
 

For many of you this is not a big deal because you are allowed to marry whoever you please, as long as they are of the opposite sex, but for the millions of gay individuals living in California this is no longer a possibility. It is disgusting to know that we live in a world where people can’t choose who they want to be with.
 

A lesbian friend of mine and I were talking today, and she told me about how she was walking down the street holding her girlfriend's hand when a guy yelled at her and told her that she couldn’t do that anymore since Prop 8 passed. That is one of the saddest things I have ever heard. Davis is a college campus, and it is repulsive to think that someone could even have the nerve to say something like that to another human being.
 

Please do what you can to help protest Prop 8; rallies are being organized all over the country. Get involved in them.
