Noah's Shark. On the topic of sharks, if you follow the NHL, undoubtedly you have seen signs proclaiming “This is Shark Territory”. Ironically, most of these signs are on land, which, while it shows the loyalty of Sharks fans may, releases more irons when you realized that hockey is played on ice, one of the shark’s arch-nemesis. So, while as nice as those signs may seem, it may make more sense to put them somewhere more useful, say the ocean, where there are actual sharks. This would have been a welcome warning for David Martin, a UC Davis Alumnus who died as a result of his wounds sustained from a Great White Shark attack on April 25th.

These things are always awkward to write about as is clearly evidenced by the fact that I may not be the most sensitive of people. Never the less, the fact that a man died is sad, and the fact that he went to U.C. Davis, really makes the story hit home. So next time you go swimming in the ocean, don’t swim towards fins!
