Kaba Modern Reps UC Irvine on T.V. and Internationally
The crew in B-Boy stances on a conveyor belt.

UC Irvine dance crew Kaba Modern, famous for it’s appearances on MTV’s, “Americas Best Dance Crew,” will attempt to redeem their third place finish on Thursday night. Last week Kaba Modern had a dance off with five other runner-ups from both seasons for a chance to perform at the VMA’s.

However, the UC Irvine alum have not only taken their moves to MTV, but danced their way to places like Norway and Japan, all while reppin’ their UC Irvine roots. Each of the dancers (Tony, Mike, Lawrence, Yuri, Gia and Cindy) were originally just members of the very large Kabayan dance club on campus. When the MTV show came along, they were chosen as the best to represent the club on a national level. Little did they know, they would be traveling the world displaying and teaching their skills.

The crew has taken UC Irvine all across the world but has yet to forget where they started out. The Crew will actually be giving a dance class and demo this weekend in Irvine.

The class should be crazy for anyone attending but the more important aspect is the fact that these now world famous people are willing to give back. People close to the crew have always said they are humble and all around good people.

The selection show for the VMA’s is Thursday on MTV at 10:00 p.m.
