With a little over a week left of summer before fall quarter at UC Davis starts, it is time to pack up the sun block, bathing suits, and drinking margaritas at two in the afternoon, and head back to school. For most the transition from summer mode into college mode is smooth, but for a select few it is the most nerve racking and hectic back to school transition of their lives, these poor souls are known as incoming freshman. So if you are spazzing out don’t fret, because I have a few suggestion to make the transition a little easier.
1) Research Research Research your college campus. Start looking up clubs you might be interested in. The number one thing you are going to learn is that since you don’t have 8 hours of class a day, like high school, your going to have a lot of time on your hands.
2) Put that piece of pizza down. Everyone has heard of the freshman 15, and I am going to give you a little secret on how you can avoid all that, here it goes, the dinning commons is not an all you can eat buffet. So try not to eat pizza and hamburgers all day, instead try a sandwich or pasta, and if you are still having stress cravings eat a salad.
3) Facebook is a college students best friend. Hey remember all those cool people you met at orientation, well get on Facebook and start adding them. I know that sounds creepy to add people you don’t know, but what you need to remember is that these people are in the same boat as you, and everyone is desperate to make friends.
Hopefully these suggestion were helpful, and I will try to add more as the year goes on
