NBA All-Star Kevin Duckworth Dies at 44

Two-time NBA All-Star Kevin Duckworth, passed away last night in Gleneden Beach, Oregon. The 7-foot tall ballplayer played for the Portland Trail Blazers from 1986-1993 and was known as “Duck.” He had previously played for other NBA teams and attended Eastern Illinois University.

 

Trail Blazers President Larry Miller today said:

Today is an extremely sad day for the Trail Blazers family. Kevin will be remembered by fans as one of the most popular and recognizable players to ever wear the Blazers uniform, but to people who knew him, he'll be remembered as one of the warmest and biggest-hearted.

Traci Rose, the Trail Blazer VP, echoed the sentiment:

This is a devastating loss. To this day, Duck is adored throughout this state and remains a brother to his teammates and to Trail Blazers staff. We will forever miss our beloved 00.

Over the course of his 684 NBA games, Duckworth scored 8,085 points. The cause of death for the 44-year-old remains unknown. He is survived by his mother and sister.
