Penn's Relatively Legitimate Procrastination Activities

Penn's Relatively Legitimate Procrastination Activities

With finals rapidly approaching, Penn students will be spending way too many hours trapped in the library. And, subsequently, I will be writing way too many posts about various finals-related stuff. I mean, there is literally nothing else happening on campus.

So back to the library, literally and blog-ily. Though I do hit up Van Pelt and Huntsman just as much as the next student, the problem with these studying locales is that, well, you really do have to study there. Other than people watching and the occasional bathroom break, it’s just you and your books in for a week of squinty-eyed, crampy-handed pain.

Which is why it’s sometimes nice to do work in your room, where you can find relatively legitimate distractions when you need a study break. All of these things will make you feel as though you are still doing something productive, even if it isn’t your work. For example, you can…

1.) Organize Your Closet

Seeing as it’s now winter, and has been cold for quite some time, take this chance to move those Bermuda shorts into a garbage bag at the bottom of your closet and hang up all your sweaters and scarves.

2.) Vacuum
You know you haven’t vacuumed your room, well, ever – it doesn’t count if your mom did it for you on move-in day. So whip out that Hoover, and while you’re at it, why not dust your shelves off…and clean the blinds on your windows…and change your sheets. Incredibly, that sounds better than calculus.

3.) Change Your Light Bulbs
Extra points if you switch to the slightly-dull-but-trendy-because-they’re-green environmentally friendly ones.

4.) Take a Nap
In keeping with my motto, all we ever really want to do is nap. And, this is actually academically productive, seeing as sleep will enhance your memory and just make you an overall better studier.

5.) Check Your Mail
Because junk mail and coupons are really important.

Happy Procrastinating!
