Is this a football doppelganger situation that we’re seeing? This weekend, the Washington State University Cougars will take on the UCLA Bruins on the Bruins’ home turf for the Rose Bowl, and there seem to be quite a few similarities between the teams. The Cougars and the Bruins each have new head coaches who played for the respective schols, are playing their third string QBs, and are yet to attain a conference victory. Uncanny.
Saturday evening Washington State will take on Coach Rick Neuheisel and the UCLA Bruins.
Both teams go into this game looking for their first conference win. Only one will get off the schnide.
Both teams go into this game with new head coaches.
Both teams go into this game with third string quarterbacks starting because of injuries. UCLA lost the first two players on their depth chart during spring practice. WSU lost their first and second string QB's in the only game they have won this season.
Both teams go into this game with head coaches that played for their respective universities, bringing a unique spirit to their roles.
… Come Saturday evening, anything can happen.
So what is the main difference between the two teams? UCLA has formed a slightly stronger defense, though WSU running back played one of his best games to date last year against UCLA. Bottom line: You’re gonna have to see this game, because predictability is slim.
