Mess with a member of the Gator football team, and fanatic fans will threaten your life.
At least that's what happened to Stan Forron, the leaseholder for Watson's Towing impound lot, which became an unlikely "scene of the crime" on Tuesday after UF safety Tony Joiner was arrested for retrieving his girlfriend's car from the lot and charged with burglary.
When Joiner's playing status was threatened days before what was arguably the biggest game of Gators' season, fans took it upon themselves to bully Forron into dropping charges.
Which was pretty pointless, since Forron didn't want to press charges against Joiner in the first place.
Apparently fans could have taken a lesson from Joiner himself, who was, according to Forron, "a perfect gentleman...That had a big influence on why I wanted [the charge dropped]."
In the end, threats didn't make a difference; the charges against Joiner were dropped regardless.
Furthermore, although he is no longer a captain and didn't start against LSU, Joiner played most of the game on Saturday in Baton Rouge, which ended in a sad loss for the Gators.
Forron incurred no harm, but threats are no laughing matter.
"I'm just glad it wasn't Tim Tebow, that's all I can say," Forron told Florida Today. "I think I would be covered in 10 feet of concrete right now if it had been Tebow."
