UC Berkeley starts a full month before the other UCs (except Merced, but that's in the middle of nowhere, so they have their own problems, like finding themselves on the map). Of course, Cal ends a month earlier for summer, but that doesn't matter when mid-August gives you the finger and kicks you back to school.

Fortunately, Cal has a remedy/bribe: CALTOPIA, better known as Free Shit Day, where students and well-dressed hobos can snag tons of free shit. Dozens of advertising booths come with buckets of give-aways, hoping you shop with them later (Thank God there's no contract.).

Be sure to catch all the fun and don't forget to bring empty bags.
