Students Encouraged to Leave Campus, I-5 Closes - NOW REOPENED
UPDATED WED 10/24: i-5 HAS REOPENED

From the last round of RA e-mails: "If you have a safe means of transportation and destination, you are encouraged to leave campus."

However, be warned that as of tonight (around 1 a.m.?) CHP has closed the I-15 in both directions between State Route 76 and Cristianitos Rd, with the fire having crossed the freeway at Camp Pendleton (north of Oceanside). Earlier tonight between around 9-10 p.m., flames could be seen en route. The I-15 remains open. See an updated map here.

Following the cancellation of this week's classes, most students have left UCSD by both plane and car. According to The Guardian, the Associate Vice Chancellor for University Communications Stacie Spector estimates that only 6,200 remain on campus.

Dining halls are holding limited hours, RIMAC will be open from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. through Friday, and PC Game Room will be open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. through Friday.

Take a break for the week, join in on the volunteer efforts, or cram for those midterms that'll likely come at double the force as soon as school starts up again. On the bright side? it looks like we won't be experiencing any of UCSD's notoriously dull Halloween parties this weekend.
