Arts & Lectures Needs To Get Interesting
Okay, so Arts & and Lectures has several cool lectures set up for the quarter, but since most of them aren't mega celebrities (yay Queen Latifah!), who here would actually know that they're interesting?

When John Cleese and Bill Clinton come, people sell kidneys for just a glimpse of them. Yet when a real amazing intellectual comes along, e.g. Naomi Klein, few people show up. The sad thing is they miss out on a great oppurtunity.

But are the students really to blame? It's way more fun to blame Arts & Lectures and The Daily Nexus...

Too few posters and flyers and too late notice leave students aware of the great people passing through campus. Few even know who Naomi Klein is, but if her visit was better advertised, it's safe to bet more people would show up.

Of course, more mega celebrites wouldn't be so bad either. UCSC gets Bill Nye the Science Guy this upcoming month, and Columbia got a guy hated by America.
