Live Strong with Lance on May 13
Lance Armstrong may have never gone to college, but that doesn't mean you can't celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Tour de France winner's LIVESTRONG organization and Grassroots Lobby Day in some major college towns.

Can you believe it's been so long since the yellow LIVESTRONG bracelet craze? We're growing up so fast. Next thing you know it'll be graduation, then everyone will be getting married and having kids, and then... well, uh, dying.

In all more seriousness, it can be easy to ignore The Big Stuff when you're just trying to pass finals, finish papers and generally keep afloat in the college cesspool like a big heady keg of Schlitz. But cancer kills nearly 8 million people each day (13% of all annual deaths), and affects millions more -- of all ages. Unfortunately, it's nearly certain that you or someone you know will be touched by cancer in your lifetime.

LIVESTRONG began as a campaign to raise awareness of that fact, as well as raise money to find a cure. Okay, you might not have money to donate, but you can rally with Lance Armstrong next Tuesday, May 13 on "LIVESTRONG Day" to show your support.
  • At 8:30 am, Lance will be at the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and Marcus Garvey Park in New York City (Madison Avenue and 124th Street), so Columbia kids, heads up.
  • At noon, it's off to a rally at Ohio State University's James Cancer Hospital (Medical Center Plaza, 450 W. 10th Avenue).
  • At 2pm, Armstrong will be celebrating at the University of Denver's Driscoll Plaza.
  • And to round out the day, Armstrong will tour the Nevada Cancer Institute at One Breakthrough Way in Las Vegas at 4:45 pm.
