Yesterday I received an e-mail from someone who looked like he or she was going to be joining the ever-growing ranks of anonymous bloggers surrounding the Penn State area. The new blog, called The CDT Watch, was going to monitor "activities over at the CDT." Not only that but the first post, a sort of blogger manifesto of all things wrong with the Centre Daily Times, mentioned Safeguard Old State, Left of Centre and the bestest blog in State College, CollegeOTR. But guess what, this morning the blog was gone. Odd.
So, in it's one day of existence, CDTWatch mustered up a good amount of controversy. Veblen at Left of Centre quickly wrote a post about the new blog, and even Bob Heisse, Editor-in-Chief of the CDT seemed to allude to the new blog on his own blog. But mostly the controversy was over who exactly this new anonymous blogger was.
Among the people I know, we all had come to a conclusion of who CDTWatch was, and ironically enough, we all had come up with the same name. Even Heisse said he thinks he knows who some of these anonymous bloggers are (you don't know me Bob!), and I think he probably had come up to the same conclusion as the rest of us.
But, from everything I hear, the person we think was taking the CDT to task denies the charges. Supposedly he claims he even e-mailed the author of the new blog asking him to remove it because he was getting so much flack. I like to envision him writing an e-mail to himself. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Oh, and a note to Bob Heisse: I don't hide behind a curtain. I hide behind a bank of computers on campus.
