Remember earlier in the summer, when Yolanda King tried to convince students how great it would be to live in the Medford Hyatt instead of on campus? Shockingly, no one took her up on that stupendous offer, leaving only one choice for Reslife. You guessed it ... forced triples!
Forced triples aren't new: in 2005, way more people accepted Tufts' offer of admission than anyone was expecting, and Reslife converted doubles into triples to accommodate them. (That was one year after Reslife announced they were eliminating forced triples... too soon, Yolanda?)
Of course, in 2005 no one blamed Reslife, considering that everyone was surprised by how many people decided to attend Tufts. This year, though, everyone knows that the only reason for the triples is King's incompetent handling of the housing lottery, which allowed tons of juniors (who are supposed to be booted off-campus first, considering that they're not guaranteed housing) to take up rooms instead of saving enough for the sophomores. So the sophomores had to take up spots that were reserved for freshmen, and voilá: another reason Tufts isn't ranked higher is born.
