YouTube And UCSB In A Flash

Enter "UCSB" into YouTube's search engine, and what's the first thing to come up? None of our great accomplishments, none of our imfamous Halloween jolts -- just a group of students participating in a flash mob.

For those of you who don't know, a flash mob is more or less a random group of people at a random location doing something random, then walking away like it didn't happen.

Several poorly planned attempts at this have been made in the dorms via Facebook, but it was no use; people weren't willing to voluntarily make fools of themselves.

However, in January of 2007, something in the Nexus inspired people to go through with the flash mob idea.  This "something" allowed people to beat each other senseless with newspapers, and have it all be okay. Nothing wrong with that, it would do everyone well to participate in a random beating, especially during finals week.

Yet of all the things UCSB is famous for, why does the flash mob have to be #1 in the hearts of YouTube users? Oh well, at least it's not something embarrassing.
