A Week of School Shootings

A Week of School Shootings

During the summer, when classes are over and students have packed up to go home, campuses are usually quiet. However, this week that silence was broken by the sound of gunshots ringing out across the country.

  • Last Thursday three people were wounded when a shooting occurred at South Mountain Community College. It’s unclear whether those involved were students or faculty.
  • Then, Friday night, a body was found in a dorm parking lot at Colorado State University. The death appears to be a homicide, though the victim is not believed to be a student at the school.
  • Late last night, another college campus was the scene of a crime. Two people were shot at North Carolina State University, but again officials say the victims were not students. Fortunately, both are expected to survive.

What is it about college campuses that attracts crazies and criminals, even when school isn’t in session?
