The stereotypical college student subsists on Ramen Noodles, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, and fast food. Now, Don Gorske, a McDonalds fanatic, is publishing a book covering his McDonalds exploits. Gorske was featured in the documentary film Super Size Me, in which he admitted that once when paid $5 to eat a Whopper, he spent his winnings to buy a Big Mac and that he proposed to his wife in a McDonald’s parking lot.
According to Reuters:
A Wisconsin man who downed almost 23,000 Big Macs since 1973 has documented his obsessive-compulsive desire in a new 205-page book, “22,477 Big Macs.”
Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin resident Don Gorske, 54, says his Big Mac attack started on May 17, 1972, when he got his first car. Since then he’s visited McDonald’s each day and keeps every single receipt in a safe box.
He skipped only once, the day his mother died, upon her request...
“I promised myself I would eat a Big Mac every day no matter how bad things got,” Gorske told the FDL Reporter . “The best thing of the whole day was the Big Mac.”
There are 8 McDonald’s within five miles of CU Boulder, so I warn students to be vigilant when indulging in fast food. The next thing you know, you could be proposing to someone in the parking lot of McDonald’s because it’s your hangout.
