Franken Vs. Coleman: Minnesota's Senate Campaign Is The Dirtiest And Most Expensive In The Nation

Despite Republican senatorial candidate Norm Coleman's moratorium on negative ads, the airwaves remain flooded with mud being slung from both sides. The City Pages lays out the trials and tribulations of this bare-knuckled brawl of a campaign in their latest issue, detailing punch-for-punch analysis of what has turned out to be an ugly and interesting race.

According to the article, Norm Coleman and Al Franken have been locked in the nation's most expensive senate race, having spent a combined $28 million, $19 million of which has been devoted to primarily negative television ads. This number is unbelievable, and only serves to further dirty politics and distrust of elected officials.

I, for one, am ready to just vote and have this election season be done with. I'm tired of the back-and-forth that goes on between embittered candidates, I'm tired of the insane statements followed by insincere catch-all retractions, I'm tired of the rabid condescension and the venomous accusations from all sides. Dammit, can't we just get this over with so we can start working on fixing the problems the next guy's gonna create?
