An incredible ten of the eleven football teams in the Big Ten conference have bowl-eligible records this year. Speculation and predictions are constantly being reformed as the final games of this season are played out. So far it seems as though Indiana and Northwestern will be the only eligible Big Ten teams that will not receive bowl invitations.
Where does this leave Purdue? The BCS system allows the Big Ten spots in seven official bowls (Rose, Capital One, Outback, Alamo, Champs Sports, Insight, and Motor City). Purdue's record of 7-5 (3-5 conf.) is the worst after Indiana and Northwestern.
Fox Sports projects Purdue will face Boston College in the Champs Sports Bowl, or possibly the Insight Bowl.
ESPN projects the Insight Bowl by two different analysts, one vs. Colorado and the other vs. Oklahoma St.
Gold and Black projects the Boilermakers will face Miami (Ohio) in the Motor City Bowl.
Lastly, CBS Sports projects Purdue will face Nebraska at the Insight Bowl, whereas College Football News projects the Champs Sports Bowl vs. Virginia.
Interestingly, none of the articles failed to place Purdue in some bowl, and the consensus seemed to be the Insight Bowl. Click here to read a history of Purdue's Bowl visits.
