Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) has introduced a bill to Congress that, if passed into law, would eliminate the BCS and replace it with playoffs for college football. You know the BCS really sucks when the United States government is ready to intervene.
The bill does not specify what type of playoff would be put in place, but it "will prohibit the marketing, promotion, and advertising of a postseason game as a 'national championship' football game, unless it is the result of a playoff system. Violations of the prohibition will be treated as violations of the Federal Trade Commission Act as an unfair or deceptive act or practice."
The bill is co-sponsored by Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Illinois) and Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas). With at least one representative from each major political parties behind the bill, one has to wonder if the the bill will be voted on along party lines, along gender lines or along fans-of-teams-who-benefit-from-the-BCS lines.
Only time will tell what will be the outcome of this unprecedented sports bill. The good news though is that Obama has already taken a pro-playoffs stand.

There are many, many more pressing issues for these politicians to work on. This is asinine. Posted 12/13/2008 11:13 PMReply
The U.S. Congress does not like George W. BushâBush committed too many crimes.
George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).
George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.
And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.
Many people know what Bush did.
And many people will know what Bush didâeven to the end of the world.
Bush was absolute evil.
Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.
Bush is a psychological prisoner.
Bush has a lot to worry about.
Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.
In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

I wonder how y'all Obamunists are going to like your utopian socialism after your political messiah and his puppet masters in CON-gress (Kerry, Pelosi, Kennedy, et al) finish dimantling the last remnants of the Republic?
Is your quote from Jim Croce's "(if I could put) Time in a Bottle?

Now in the interest of "Change" Obama and like minded people would just throw this all away. What a shamefull show of disrespect for history and tradition. Is there no limit to his invasiveness?
Another thing. I saw on T.V. the meeting they had and how the congressmen used bullying tactics and dominated air time, not giving the "witnesses" fair time to respond. Seems to me that this is a good example of the railroading job congress has in store if this gets to be a full blown "hearing", which I pray it doesn't. Posted 05/08/2009 5:22 PMReply
