Country Star, Blowfish to Replace OAR

Country Star, Blowfish to Replace OAR

Announced just hours ago was news that country singer Gary Allan and lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish, Darius Rucker, will be performing on campus 8 p.m. Saturday Februrary 28 at Elliott Hall. Tickets are $30 for students, $35 for general public (WTFFFFF). Thank goodness the Student Concert Committee finally got an act to fill the empty space left by OAR's cancellation earlier this year... next semester.

Allan is one of those new country radio stars with hits such as Smoke Rings In The Dark, The One, Man to Man, Tough Little Boys, Nothing On But The Radio, Best I Ever Had, and Life Ain't Always Beautiful. A glance at his Wikipedia page also taught me that one of his wives committed suicide. Sad :( On the brighter side, two of his albums were certified gold in 2007 (aka one of the last dying years of CD) so he's at least popular.

Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish is credited by some as having "single-handedly kept record stores in business for about 2 years in the 90's." His new album, Learn to Live, is country instead of rock and has produced the hit single "Don't Think I Don't Think About It."

Thanks SCC, for more marginalization of music lovers that don't love country.
