An organization with the name People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals doesn't sound all that exciting. But according to NBC, PETA's just a little too exciting.

The network has banned a PETA ad for the Super Bowl deeming it too sexy... as if that were possible. Considering Super Bowl ads usually push the envelope, it says something that this ad didn't make the cut. Check out the "Vegetarians Have Better Sex Ad" at the center of the controversy:

Okay, so broccoli foreplay and penetration by asparagus are a little risque.

To be exact, NBC sent an email outlining their position, stating: "The PETA spot submitted to Advertising Standards depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards."

Not that PETA normally shies away from the risque.

On campus, environmental activism doesn't seem quite as outrageous. Instead, the flyering, announcements and protests usually take on a much more tame tone. College environmental events are the domain of the granola girls and hippie chicks and tend to attract the same. Not to say these girls aren't attractive in their own way, but they're no Eva Mendes.

PETA has Eva Mendes... and much more. Their ads for vegetarianism and fur attract some of the hottest celebrities, models and other attractive women. Christina Applegate? Check. Alicia Silverstone? Yup. Pamela Anderson? Of course. You want her, you got her. These environmentally conscious women could make a hardcore carnivore give up meat for life.
