This past Saturday, a 51-year-old woman was minding her own business, cheering on the University of Florida in the Southeastern Conference championship when she let loose with a rousing yell of “Go Gators.” Next thing she knows, she has a gun pointed at her.
A convicted felon had entered her apartment after hearing the cheer, which he misinterpreted to be a racial slur.
Wait – what?
The woman and others in the apartment told Bruce Cooper, the guy with the gun to leave, and he eventually listened. He has since been charged with armed burglary with a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated assault with a firearm.
But I’m still trying to figure out how “Go Gators” could be a racial slur… unless maybe he was a Seminole fan.
By the way, it was later revealed that Cooper has previously been convicted on multiple cocaine charges.
Oh... now I get it.
