Greek Week 2009: Justice League Edition

Greek Week 2009: Justice League Edition

Greeks declare themselves the new Ann Arbor superheroes.

Last night the University of Michigan's Greek System kicked off its annual Greek Week competition at Ann Arbor's premiere club, Necto, by hosting its pairings party (am I saying that right?) where they choose the teams. From what I can tell, each team is comprised of a sorority, a legit frat, and a smaller frat. These teams then compete for one week in random games like tug-o-war, Guitar Hero, etc., which all culminates with the sing and variety competitions. Supposedly, it's done all in the name of charity, but I couldn't tell you how they actually raise money.

Anyways, last night they announced the teams and apparently the theme for this year is superheros. Last year teams were named after past Olympic host cities, which is actually a pretty good idea compared to past years where team names were just numbers, but superheroes? I really hope team Batman represents or Bruce Wayne might get pissed. Perhaps next year they can name teams after my favorite teenage soaps. I get first dibs on team One Tree Hill, sorry Kappa. They probably should have just recycled the Olympic cities idea, but considering Greeks' "holier than thou" attitude this surprises me little.

In case you're actually interested in this inane competition, here are the teams:

Team Aquaman - Theta, Psi U, PhiDelt

Team Batman - Kappa, Sig Ep, Zeta Psi

Team Captain America - Alpha Phi, Shady Phi, Chi Psi

Team Flash - DG, PiKaps, Sigma Chi, Alpha Sig

Team Green Lantern - ADPi, Triangle

Team Hulk - SDT, DTD, Chi Phi

Team Incredibles - Chi O, Fiji, Lambda Chi

Team Iron Man - AGD, Sammy, Delta Chi

Team Ninja Turtles - Skrappa, Kappa Sig

Team Spiderman - Pi Phi, Phi Psi, DU

Team Superman - DPhiE, DKE, Theta Xi

Team Wonder Woman - AXO, AEPhi, Pike, Sigma Pi

Team X-Men - Tridelt, AEPi, Pi Lambda Phi

Team Watchmen - College OTR

Cross your fingers you see a Pike dressed like Wonder Woman.
