Smith Pleads Guilty to Choking Girlfriend, Being ****
Badger running back Lance Smith pled guilty to battery and disorderly conduct Tuesday relating to the July altercation with his girlfriend. Worst-case scenario for Smith at this point is almost a year in prison and $11,000 in fines. Best (and more likely) scenario is completing the first offender program and having the charges dismissed. By the sounds of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Badger Herald, none of this changes Smith's suspension from all road games, including a possible bowl game.

At least he waited until three weeks before his court date to plead guilty so Badger fans could spend most of the season pretending he did nothing wrong.
