Tau Epsilon Phi at University of Florida Goes on Interim Suspension for Hazing

On Monday night, the police were called to the Tau Epsilon Phi house on reports of possible hazing. Sure enough, when they got there, there were 36 pledges kneeling shirtless on the floor of the basement.

When Detective Jacob Pruitt arrived one of the members passed out. He was later taken to the hospital for reasons yet unknown. The pledges were wearing wet shoes and according to the report, one was shivering and complaining that he was cold.

The report also stated that "baby diapers, diapers with duct tape attached, broken glass bottles, alcohol bottles, trash and a trash can that was half full of water and ice” were at the scene. Whatever might have been going on there is left up to your imagination.

Sixteen pledges were questioned and eight provided pertinent details. They reported that they were made to sit on their knees for an hour and a half and some had food and water thrown at them. They also all concurred that the exercises were optional.

For now, TEP is under interim suspension until this whole mess gets sorted out. Pledges, here's a good life lesson: don't associate with people who will throw food at you.
