After months of polls, debates and SNL sketches, the historic 2008 election is now just a weekend away. A new president signifies a lot of things for our country, and for college students, it signifies another opportunity to get piss drunk.
The election night drinking game is simple and guaranteed to keep you drinking for hours. And if this is anything like the last two elections, you might want to get ready for a three day bender.
All you need to do is gather your friends and buy copious amounts of alcohol. Then divide the blue and red states amongst yourselves. You might pick the blue states if you voted Democratic or drink for the red states to drown your sorrows at the possibility of McCain becoming president.
Here are the rules:
- If you picked blue, drink when one of the blue states get called for Obama.
- If you picked red, drink when one of the red states get called for McCain.
- Drink if a state gets called for a candidate and then it is retracted.
- Drink for each network that reports the same mistaken decision.
- Finish whatever drink you’re on when someone reaches 270.
- Then serve yourself up your favorite drink and chug half of it when someone concedes.
- Chug the other half when Obama* gives his victory speech.
Finally, don’t forget that if you vote, there’s tons of goodies in it for you. On the 4th, Starbucks is giving away a complimentary tall brewed coffee to anyone (in FL) who comes in with an “I Voted” sticker or their voter registration card. That sticker will also get you a free red, white and blue sprinkled donut at Krispy Kreme. And not to be outdone, Ben and Jerry’s is giving everyone free scoops from 5pm-8pm on election night.
And if you want to beat the crowds, early voting ends at 7 pm on Saturday in Alachua county and the rest of the state. Don’t embarrass us, Florida!
