Tragedy struck today as a Rutgers student about to attend a 3 hour morning lecture tried to buy coffee from a vending machine in the Hill Center. Michael A., the unsuspecting Rutgers senior, put his $1.25 into the machine, selected his cream and sugar preferences and hit the pour button. As the light to indicate that the coffee was being poured blinked on, the student quickly realized something was wrong: No cup was dispensed by the machine.
The coffee, without having a cup to land in, was poured directly down the drain. Apparently, this is not the first time a student had problems with this machine. Allegation arose that last week another student had the opposite problem, where only a cup was dispensed, but no coffee.
The story did have a happy ending, however, as Michael received a full refund from the help desk at the Busch campus center. He is reported to have used the money to buy coffee, this time from a person.
