Brown Video Buffs - Tonight @ Cable Car Cinema

Brown Video Buffs - Tonight @ Cable Car Cinema

I'm only slightly embarrassed to admit that I've deemed the finale of Project Runway tonight more exciting than the free* movies at the Cable Car Cinema, but in the name of honesty, I'll admit the addiction must meet its culmination.  Sure, I could catch the reruns, I suppose, but my friend and the plantain chips she'll be bringing over the la casa de moira won't wait... so neither will I! (* by "free" I mean "suggested donation of $5")

Here's the details for those of you without the need for a fashion fix:

WEDNESDAY, October 8, 9:30pm: PIXILERATED: Video Art

23 videos range from the experimental photography of Andreas Zingerle¹s Solargrafica to Brian Chin¹s compact relationship study, This Close But Not Alone, and Blair Neal¹s light-speed critique of consumer culture 10,000 Items or Less. Also: Dave Griffiths, Michael Hersrud, Anton Hecht, Birkbeck & Duffy, Brian DeLevie and Isshaela Ingham, Chikashi Miyama, Daniel Foerste, Henry Gwiazda, Jaroslaw Kapuscinski, Kevin McConnell, Maggi Payne, Mike Hannon and Irene Buckley, Sandy Florian & Talan Memmott, Sarah Buckius, Susan Bowman, Conor O'Kelly-Lynch, and Paulina Sierra.

Suggested donation of $5. hosted by the Magic Lantern Cinema, at the Cable Car Cinema, 204 South Main Street.

While I can't promise that tonight's event will be better than last night's, I can assure you that having something to stare at will at least be more fascinating than a blank screen.

P.S. Have you been to the galleries yet?  The gallery at 191 Westminster Street is the more interesting of the two, but I highly recommend checking out both of 'em for the full artistic effect.  Sol Koffler's open 12 - 8, and the other's 12 - 6.

Oh, and in case you are wondering if I'm getting paid in sexual favors or strawberry sprinkle donuts to promote the events, the answer is no... though I'm open to bribes in either form.  I just love the exhibits, and think they are well worth the effort for you to get up off your arse and downtown to see some art that doesn't suck and isn't completely pretentious, cough, usual risd student gallery fare, cough.
