A day after OTR published an article about the rise of the Red Sox, Carl Yastrzemski falls ill in the hospital. The once great outfielder was hospitalized yesterday morning experiencing chest pains and discomfort. The AP reports that Yaz's hospital stay is no ballgame ....
"Asked whether it was serious, Yastrzemski spokesman Dick Gordon said: "Any time you are in the hospital, it's got to be pretty serious."
The OTR headquarters is frantically making phone calls, setting up press conferences and sending hundreds of millions of flowers to Yaz to reassure the crazy Red Sox fans that this was not a conspiracy!
The 68-year-old is one of the greats in Red Sox history. After joining the team in 1961, he went on to become an AL MVP, a member of the 3000 hit club and the first American League player to hit over 400 homeruns.
Yastrzemski retired in 1983 at the age of 44 – the longest career with one team. In 1989, the Sox paid tribute to his great skills and dutifully retired the all star’s number.
Hopefully, the Red Sox superstar will recover soon otherwise OTR will be held responsible for jinxing the Sox and reinstating The Curse of The Bambino.
