SAT Writing Section Can Predict Success

SAT Writing Section Can Predict Success

Researchers at UGA have found that the additional writing section of the new SAT is a better predictor of success in college than the verbal or math sections.

This discovery comes after many colleges and universities have already made the SAT optional for admission into their institutions. The administrators claimed that the writing section is not a better predictor of academic success.

The researchers at UGA say that because the writing section is so new, students haven’t had a chance to make it work to their advantage. Their findings show that the better a student scores on the writing section, the better their overall college GPA will be, and the more credit hours they will earn.

No matter which side of the debate you take, many agree that a student’s high school GPA is the best predictor of how well he or she will do in college. The SAT is simply a tool used to differentiate between students with academic performances of the same caliber.
