Well Georgia won again this weekend, and over a formidable opponent. But yet again many fans left the game feeling less than impressed. Why does it seem like other top teams win so much easier than we do? It appears we can’t put it together for a clean, easy win over anyone. I know we have a tough schedule, but come on, it’s only getting harder.
It would have been so nice to travel to LSU riding a wave of confidence after crushing Vandy. And it could have happened. We certainly put ourselves in position for an easy victory. Like usual, though, we had a few mistakes and missed opportunities. It was just enough to keep Vanderbilt in the game until almost the very end.
A win is definitely a win, especially in the SEC, but we need to seize every opportunity if we want to make a real run. The next few weeks are pretty much going to determine if our season is a success or failure. I know we have the team to win, but it seems like they don’t always show up, especially for all four quarters. To beat LSU and Florida, we have to play our best from start to finish, and we just can’t play this mediocre game and get away with it.
With all of this said, I think we can do it. Stafford will have to step up and play well, and our offensive line has to help him out. Like we saw last year, once we get on a roll we’re almost impossible to stop. Maybe we will get that wave of confidence after all, it will just come a week later than I had hoped.
