Beloved UGA Mascot Dead

Beloved UGA Mascot Dead

The University of Georgia lost their beloved mascot over the weekend. The English bulldog named Uga (pronounced "Ooga") died on Friday from congestive heart failure. He was 9 years old.

Uga was the 6th bulldog in his family to be a mascot. His term began back in 1999. He was expected to help kick off the football season this fall. He and his family were so popular that they appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated, a recognition no other mascot has received.

Uga VI’s successor will be named at a later date.
