This crazy guy in the picture popped up EVERYWHERE last weekend while Dawg fans invaded LSU. It seems every album I’ve seen has this guy in at least one picture, and he looks the same in every one: decked out from head-to-toe in UGA gear. I never once saw him in anything besides red and black.
I hear the diehard fan plans to head to Jacksonville too, and I couldn’t be happier. As hype about the game builds around campus, everyone knows how tough this weekend will be. The truth is, we need all fans to share in his enthusiasm. Few Georgia fans feel like Jacksonville is a fair meeting place for the two teams (considering we fly and they drive just over an hour), so the fans that do head down need to get crazy. And why not? It’s arguably the biggest game of the year.
Regardless of how you dress, let your presence be known down there. As we saw last year, it can make a huge difference. Stafford and company will need all the support they can get to pull off another big win.
The support shouldn’t just be for football either; UGA’s volleyball team beat Florida earlier this week in an extremely tight battle. It was the first time in 18 years our volleyball team has beaten the Gators. That's not quite the record any team wants going into a big game, but we were able to pull it out in the fifth and final set. It was UF’s first conference loss of the season, and I’m sure our girls were more than happy to give it to them.
Considering our record in Jacksonville is anything but perfect, I’m sure the football team would be just as happy to give Florida’s football team another loss too.
