I know people make stupid decisions when drunk, but these idiotic ideas should be restricted to beer-goggle induced hook-ups, junk food binges and occasionally the unintended tattoo.
But when will people learn that drinking and driving is NOT a good idea, especially if you are an important college athlete with a lot on the line.
At UNC a star tennis player, Chris Kearney, made the dumb decision to get behind the wheel, and now the player considered the Atlantic Coast Conference 2007 Freshman Player of the Year has traded in the tennis courts for the legal courts.
WRAL.com reports:
Kearney was charged with two counts of inflicting personal injury, felony hit-and-run causing personal injury and possessing a fake ID and one count each of driving while impaired and consuming alcohol under the age of 21.
His blood-alcohol reading registered 0.18, more than twice the 0.08 per se limit for intoxication in North Carolina.
His parents flew in from Irvine, Calif., to attend his first court appearance Monday morning and bail him out of jail. He has withdrawn from school and will return home to California with them, said his attorney, Amos Tyndall.
It’s never good when mommy and daddy have to travel across the country go bail you out.
