Travis Henry has a talent— for ****ing up. The talented Broncos' running back was told by the NFL that he was on his last straw, after his third violation of the NFL’s substance abuse regulations. A paternity test last year also showed that he had fathered at least nine illegitimate children with nine different women, wrote a bad check for expensive jewelry, and in 2001 he was charged with attempted sexual misconduct with a fifteen-year-old girl. Now he's been caught in a huge drug bust.
Former NFL running back Travis Henry is being held in connection with an alleged drug deal in a Denver suburb.
Henry, 29, was being held pending charges after an alleged "multi-kilogram cocaine transaction" according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Rocky Mountain division of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
It is the latest, and potentially most serious, problem for Henry, who was released in June by his third NFL team, the Denver Broncos.
"He's just too inconsistent as a person," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said at the time. "When you're too inconsistent as a person, you usually aren't going to win championships. I'm not going to get into details what he did do or didn't do."
Denver released the player 15 months after he was signed to a five-year contract worth $22.5 million US following stints with Tennessee and Buffalo. Henry gained 691 yards and just four touchdowns in his lone season with the Broncos.
Travis Henry, a Floridian, attended the University of Tennessee, where he was on the 1998 national champion ship team. He has since played for three teams since he was first drafted in 2001 and screwed up more times than we can count. We can only hope that the gifted football player will learn to curb his enthusiasm for disappointing fans.
