If so, then start heading downtown pretty much every night for the next few weeks. The Halloween parties have officially started in Athens, and there’s only one place they end: downtown. Who doesn’t like going out to show off their costume (or at least check out other ones)?

Since Georgia-Florida weekend falls on Halloween yet again, it only means the weeks prior are even crazier in Athens. You can’t miss the hilarious, disgusting and occasionally sexy costumes people whip up last minute. And whether it’s because people are cold wearing next-to-nothing in late October or they’re embarrassed to be dressed up in some ridiculous costume, the alcohol pours like never before around Halloween. The drinking combined with the anonymity leaves even the biggest homebodies losing ALL inhibitions downtown. I have seen some of the funniest antics at bars around this time of year. Think a 6 foot tall penis running at random girls yelling “Scratch my balls!” (seriously).

The date of Georgia-Florida ends up helping Halloween party-goers too, since people stretch the celebration out over two weeks. Feel no shame in rocking a costume downtown with a few friends on random nights, you may even get a free drink out of it. Whatever you do, dress up as something. There’s nothing creepier than the guy in jeans and a t-shirt checking out the girls dressed up as Playboy Playmates. If you want to enjoy the show, you’ve got to be a part of it.

Besides, who doesn’t like watching Michael Jackson and Sarah Palin make out on the dance floor at The Loft?
